You may also find a couple of loose buttons and maybe a bottlecap or two, all of these things are usable you just need to use your imagination.

There are lots of other places where you can get the needed materials, and with a little imagination you can even get some for free. So now there is absolutely nothing stopping you from starting on this addictive hobby.
