4 Ways to Make Reading a Daily Routine
Even though it might seem impossible for parents to inculcate a genuine love for books, experts believe that it is the most important thing for them to do.
That said, here are 4 ways to make reading a daily routine:
#1: Incorporate reading everywhere
Time is of the essence and while it might be difficult to get through the day until it is bedtime, it’s still important to find creative ways to make reading a part of your daily routine. One way to do this is by making it stand out from other activities that would get your kids to read first.
#2: Surround yourself with books
Take books, even older ones, with your everywhere be it the doctor’s office, when traveling in the car or even at the park. You can even place a number of classics at their bedside or the toy box. By leaving it around your kid’s space, you’ll increase his or her chances of reading these books.
#3: Set a clear timing to read
While you do schedule a number of things, it isn’t such a bad idea to schedule a time for reading. There’s no need for you to lose the joy of reading because of your daily schedule. You can tell a short story at bedtime or even read a book at lunch too. Even a few minutes of your time should be enough.
#4: Visit the library
Going to the library everyday might not be possible but making regular trips shouldn’t be a problem. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to make it fun either. For example, you can challenge your child to find seven books from the library from their trip.
